    Description

    Wunderlich Engine Bars

Available in Silver, Black, or Chrome

Fits: Standard & Option 719 BMW valve covers

Our Wunderlich engine bars result from over three decades of experience in manufacturing them at a high standard, resulting in developing these stylish and practical engine protection bars that guarantee to deliver what they promise: safety, lightweight, durability, and low maintenance. The engine guard reliably protects the cylinders, valve covers, and the two oxygen sensors. The overall protective concept increases passive safety and the joy of riding. In the event of a fall or a fall-over, the forces acting are optimally distributed over the guard structure to the load-bearing pick-up points to avoid force peaks.
The engine bars are made of 25-millimeter precision steel tubing. The tubing segments are formed on CNC tube bending machines and then cleanly welded. Visually, the bars integrate into the motorcycle's design and emphasize its striking appearance. Our bars emphasize protective function and product design and exquisitely refine your BMW.
Our protective bars focus on protective function and product design. The stainless steel surface is glass bead blasted and additionally electro-polished.

    Details:
    • Even distribution of forces on 3 points per side
    • Perfect protection of cylinders, valve covers, and both oxygen sensors
    • Maximum protection combined with minimal weight
    • Course of the brackets matches the manifold and the line of the boxer
    • No restriction of ground clearance
    • Plug & Play fit: uncomplicated fitting is guaranteed!
    • Detailed yet easy-to-understand fitting instructions
    • High quality stainless steel with high tensile strength and break elongation
    • A connecting strut between both protection bar sides can be purchased optionally
    • The crash bar runs directly over the manifold (front view) and with the contour of the Boxer
    • The surface of the uncoated versions comes with a passive layer: if damaged, the surface can regenerate via exposure to oxygen itself

    • Made in Germany

Nice solid product, instructions need work
    (AZ) | July 4th, 2024
The graphic instructions are minimal and generally adequate, but it would be worth mentioning that all the front body work will need to be removed, and may have clearance issues on reinstallation, especially the lower panel. What does, "Driving in inclined positions may be restricted." mean? Also, worth mentioning in the installation instructions would be the warning that the bars will need to be loosened to change the oil filter, and this will likely require all the side body panels be removed rather than just the lower panel.

More stylish than the other offerings out there. Easy enough to install but you’ll have to remove some Tupperware to do it. I’m disappointed that one supposedly has to be loosened to get the oil filter off. I’ll probably want to do something aftermarket with the fog light mounts. There’s mention of a cross bar available to tie the left and right together but I can’t find it in the catalog.

Front engine protection bars for BMW R1250RT
    (Florida) | May 26th, 2023
I had these bars on my last RT as well and was very pleased with them. My one fault with these is that they move the front spotlights forward, which takes from the look of the bike. I would recommend a different attachment to keep the spotlights closer to where they were.

    Engine Guard Bars

The instructions can be disregarded as long as you pay close attention to the pictures. The confusion begins with torque values for each location, the chart is difficult at best to decipher for a customer install. A dealership technician would have the values available. fitment of the factory auxiliary lights is addressed only via pictures and the bars don't really accommodate utilizing the factory engineered aiming lugs. I would suggest marking a spot on a wall or garage door prior to installing the bars so that the desired aim is retained. I had removed the body panels once before to install a competitor's bars so that was not an issue this time. once installed they look likely to function as designed and do not have a negative impact on the overall style.

Top quality and design. Had them installed when I had bike in for service in preparation of upcoming 5,000+ mile ride. Customer service also A+ answering qquestions before I had them installed.

Must have accessory; best of the best
    (PA) | March 25th, 2023
My 2022 BMW R1250RT needed engine protection after laying down the bike at an intersection week's after buying by bike. Fortunately only a minor scratch. After this occurred I searched for a set of engine guards (and there are many), and settled on Wunderlich based on looks and their reputation. My decision was supported by some YouTubers who demonstrated the value of these guards. They are expensive, but a fraction of the cost of repairing your engine if your bike goes down. I installed them myself with the help of YouTube instruction, and they are incredibly strong, look great, and give me an immense sense of security. Worth every penny, and highly recommended.

    Engine Protection Bars
    (Virginia) | March 13th, 2023
The protection bars look great on the bike. Installation was straightforward. I didn’t have any issues with the install. I’d like to see a better mounting setup for the stock fog lights. Using the original mounting bar moves the fog lights too far forward. It also ruins the look of the lights. I would purchase a better designed fog light mounting bar.

    Bars look great

Bought a new bike and it make sense to provide some engine protection like the last two RTs. The Black were my choice for matching to the color scheme and like others has a dealer put them on since new (3,5 hours) but it looks easy.
