    Description

    Vario Round Mirror

These are ingenious mirrors with wide adjustment possibilities. If needed, they can be folded completely out of the way. This solves several problems such as moving in traffic or when parking, also when off-road riding (not in the way when riding standing up) and in case of a fall the mirrors are better protected. The aspherical (2 planes) mirror surface widens the field of vision and reduces the "blind spot", a problem associated with the original mirrors. The special mirror glass incorporates alight blue anti-glare layer that reduces sun and light reflections to a minimum. In contrast to most pure off-road mirrors, these are "E" approved and suitable for road use.

Fits left or right side. Sold EACH.

The R1200 RT can greatly benefit
from the installation of these mirrors! Though the original mirrors are well placed to provide wind protection, they are not in the optimal spot for a clear view of what's behind and especially if you are traveling with luggage on the rear.

    R1200 RT up to 2009:

    • If you have a large aftermarket windshield, these mirrors may not work for you because the mirrors may contact your windshield when the handlebars are turned fully. We have not tested compatibility with the many aftermarket shields available.
    • The upper holes in the controls may be a bit too small for these mirrors to fit. In this case, a round file, Dremel Tool or a rolled up piece of sandpaper can be used to slightly enlarge the upper hole, and the mirror will slide right in. This is not a defect of the mirrors, in some cases this extra machining process was omitted on the RT by the factory because it was not foreseen to install mirrors in the control assemblies on the RT.

R1200 RT 2010 - 2013: These mirrors will only fit your bike with Mirror Adapters. Please see the Mirror Adapter 5mm and 6mm under the Related Products for more information.

R1200 RT 2014 - on: These mirrors will only fit your bike with Mirror Adapters. Please see the Mirror Adapter, LC under the Related Products for more information.

once the supplied threaded bracket was identified, the rest was easy and the result was profound. Great peripheral vision and solid at highway speed. great addition F700GS
    A huge improvement

A put a set of these on my 1200GS Adventure and I like them so well that I purchased another set for my NineT. The shape of BMW's new mirrors limit your rear ward view and our dangerous. The Vario round mirrors are a must!
    Great mirror for the money

Much better mirror than the BMW ones I replaced on my 2008 GS. Easy install, (better than the weirdly reverse threaded variety OEM mirros) and I very much like the "move it out of the way" when changing to standing position. Would definitely recommend to other riders.

The mirror BMW should have included
    (San Jose, California) | October 4th, 2014
The Vario round mirror and mount is the part BMW *should* have included on the R1200GS Adventure. It's substantially more adjustable than the OEM part and much easier to adjust. Best of all, it's easy to fold up out of the way for off-roading! I can't figure out why BMW would put an easily-damaged mirror on a dual-sport and then have no way to make it "safe" other than taking it off entirely. One note: Don't test your strength on the connection. A peg on the mirror body fits into the handlebar mount, and then you tighten the mirror with a pinch nut. Overtighten, and you'll have to remove the entire assembly and stick it in a vise to get it loose. The handlebar mount and the pinch nut both take a 17mm wrench. Since you don't need much force, I suggest you buy two Park Tool 17mm cone wrenches. They're cheap, and they're smaller and easier to use than the typical 17mm wrench.
Superior to Stock Mirrors, but could be better
    (San Jose, CA) | July 10th, 2014
The Vario Round Mirrors are superior to the stock R1200GSA mirrors because they're more adjustable and easier to adjust. I particularly like the ability to fold them inwards for narrow trail riding, and in addition I can remove them easily. Vario also makes a narrow mirror with the same adjustability, but you should *not* get them. I tried them and they don't provide enough visibility. One thing I regret is that all of the mirror types require tools to adjust. It seems to me that Vario, in particular, could add a knurled knobs to the adjustment points, so that I could make quick adjustments without having to dig out a spanner or screwdriver.
    No discernible difference

Disappointing, in a word. They work, and are adjustable, but the field of view is not noticeably better than OEM (2010 R1200GS), they do not reach as far out to the side (thus inhibiting the view) and the accompanying hardware is not a good look on the bike.
    GREAT IMPROVEMENT ON OEM MIRRORS
    (Loveland, CO) | August 26th, 2013
I bought these to replace Rizoma mirros for my HP2 to help get a better rear view and they worked wonders. They are very functional and multi-adjustable. Would highly recommend to the point I am going to buy another pair for my ural.
    Look stock, but more adjustable
    (Hayward, CA) | March 29th, 2011
My 2006 GSA had aftermarket mirrors when I bought it from the original owner, so I don't have any way to compare these mirrors to the stock ones. All I can say is these are well made, very adjustable, and seem to give me all the visibility that I need.
