I debated between the short windshield and the touring windshield for my R nine T. I finally decided to go with the short windshield as I thought it matched the looks of the bike better and most of my riding is around town. Very high quality, thick windshield, thick aluminum brackets and stainless hardware, made in Germany. Expensive yes, but you get what you pay for. I had the same installation issue as other people installing the touring windshield. The stubby oem pegs from the stock bar clamps were stuck in the top triple tree on my bike. Instead of butchering things trying to get the oem pegs out, here was my solution that worked out well. I purchased the 20mm handlebar risers from Wunderlich as well. I put the 20mm risers on the triple tree over the stock stubby pegs. Then I installed the longer pegs from Wunderlich in the top of the 20mm risers. Then I installed the windshield brackets (the longer Wunderlich pegs rose above the brackets as designed to do to engage the bar clamps). Then I installed the lower bar clamps, handle bars and top bar clamps. Essentially sandwiching the windshield brackets between the risers and bar clamps. Make sure you have everything adjusted as needed (hash marks lined up on handlebars and clamps, windshield brackets lined up with bar clamps, loosely fit windshield to brackets, before you use the supplied thread lock and torque the bar clamp bolts down, front first to 38Nm then back to 19Nm. I routed the brake, clutch and electrical lines on the outside of the windshield brackets. I did have to gently tap the clutch banjo line fitting back an 1/8" with a rubber mallet to get decent clearance on the left windshield bracket. Clearance of lines on the right was acceptable. Be sure to check clearance of lines on both sides at full steering lock. The short windshield brackets have 6 holes of adjustment allowing a lot of tweaking on height and angle. I finally decided on a more upright position for the windshield. This allows roughly 60% reduction in air pressure on my chest at highway speeds and seems to keep a lot of the bug spatter off my jacket and to a lesser degree, my helmet. I do seem to have a little more helmet wind noise and hear my bikes exhaust less on the highway. In noticed myself riding faster on the highway because the wind pressure was so much less on me. I can ride around town with my helmet visor up and get almost no bugs to the face now. I tried different positions with the windshield tilted back and found that way was similar to no windshield on the highway and directed bugs right to my face around town so I elected for the more upright position. I do love the way the windshield completes the look of the bike, not to short, not too tall with a very heavy duty look as the rest of the R nine T has. I'm happy with it but if I was doing more traveling/touring I may go with the touring windshield for a little more wind protection.
