Side Cover Set, Black

Thank you for inviting a review of the Wunderlich side cover set. First let me say; in my opinion these covers greatly enhance the appearance of the K1600 GT/L! As several others reviewers have said the installation instructions provided with the cover set are somewhat vague. Fortunately if you are mechanically inclined the installation is fairly straight forward. I opted to drill the left side cover to accommodate a Powerlet (BMW style) electrical connector. I use this connector to power to my heated riding gear and when not riding plug in a battery tender. If you opt to do something similar a word of caution, the side covers (at least the left side cover) is quite brittle or possibly has some internal stress remaining from the forming process. In any case the first cover I drilled cracked during the drilling process. The plastic cracked even though the material was backed up with a wooden block during the drilling process. The good news is after ordering a second set of covers (yep the pocketbook suffered but I liked them that much) the drilling process went off without a hitch. I�m having the covers and much of the other factory black plastic painted Metallic Mineral Silver to match the bike, but even unpainted the Wunderlich covers definitely enhance the appearance of the K1600.

I had the dealer install them. 1/2 hour labor and they look real good. I did remove top front/left side pin and extend it out a little.

The product itself is great but the directions leave a lot to be desired. Should have been some big bold warning that not all the nuts and bolts are the same and possibly a clearer breakout diagram showing each of the 6 hardware sub-assemblies in detail.

product is very nice ,good fit and finnish,but really the directions are the worst ever ....
